Radiance Bidriware Memento

The Radiance Cross is a tabletop memento featuring the cross of Christ. The sunburst pattern is inlaid in silver and reflects its radiance even on the gloomiest of days and in the darkest corners. Perhaps a sign of hope in troubled times. The memento also makes for a thoughtful gift. 

The Radiance Cross is part of a series of objects developed with highly skilled and awarded Bidri craftspeople from Bidar, Karnataka. It was originally designed as a souvenir for visiting tourists to the old town of Bidar where the craft is practised.

The craft of Bidriware involves the inlay of pure silver (or other soft metals) onto the surface of a cast nickel alloy form which is subsequently oxidised to a rich black colour leaving the inlaid silver untouched and in stark contrast. The process dates back to ancient Persia and carries the globally recognised Geographical Indication tag.

Note: Silver has a tendency to tarnish. This is natural and a sign of its authenticity. You may choose to enjoy the effects of time or to re-polish lightly with Brasso® or Silvo® - this will bring back the original shine. Pieces may exhibit very slight marks of their handcrafted process.

Care: Avoid continued contact of outer surface with moisture/water. Silvo® or Brasso® may be used to polish silver engraved areas. A gently applied coating of coconut oil or vaseline thereafter shall help protect the silver from tarnishing again quickly.
